Gunmetal Magic (Kate Daniels, #5.5)

Gunmetal Magic (Kate Daniels, #5.5) - Ilona Andrews I couldn't wait for this to come out. I was so excited and giddy with anticipation. Maybe that's why I didn't LOVE it? This is actually a 3.5 rating for me. Gunmetal Magic is the continuation of Magic Gifts, a novella. The events at the beginning of Gunmetal are occuring simultaneously as Magic Gifts and then it takes off from where Magic Gifts ends. I’ve always liked Andrea. She is a survivor who finds safety and purpose in discipline and rules. Since she was outed as a shapeshifter it has become important for her to join Clan Bouda. She has also broken up with the clan's alpha Raphael. So I expected this book to be about all these issues plus some magical emergency that needed to be resolved.

I don't know if my expectations were too high but I found this to be a bit lackluster. Maybe I just missed Kate. I still enjoyed the story and enjoyed seeing Roman again. Perhaps I will re-read at a later time and fall in love with this.
