The Husband's Secret

The Husband's Secret - Liane Moriarty A solid 4 stars. This wasn't exactly what I expected but it was still an entertaining read. Though the book is centered around Cecilia's husband and his secret, this is mostly about how secrets in general impact the lives of those around us and the "what ifs" of life.

Throughout the span of one week, we follow the lives of three women, Cecilia, Tess and Rachel. While I found Tess the most interesting and one that I related to the most, I think that the story could've done without her. Once the big secret is revealed, it doesn't affect her, though it does affect the life of an ex-boyfriend Connor so perhaps that's how it is linked to her. Not sure. I found Cecilia to be neurotic and very similar to so many moms I know. So preoccupied with playing the role of mother to perfection, that who they truly are is lost. Rachel is an older woman consummed by a terrible tragedy and secrets of her own.

Overall a quick read and the writing was very fluid and vivid.
