The Silver Chain (Unbreakable Trilogy, Book 1)

What I expected: After reading the blurb I thought this would follow the usual lines of wealthy wounded alpha man meets naive girl and they begin an erotic BDSM relationship that blossoms to love. Not an original idea but one that has proven to be entertaining.
What I got: Overly complicated, descriptive writing to hide an unexciting plot and less exciting romance, love or eroticism.
Serena is described as an unworldly girl who flees a horrible childhood and comes to London to pursue her career as a photographer. However, within a couple of chapters we learn that she has traveled to Venice and other places. One cold Halloween night she meets a mysterious, rich older man - "older" being almost 40 - and through over descriptive language we establish that there is attraction. They agree on a contract that he will exhibit her work if she in turn serves him in whatever he wants.
There was no build up to the attraction and love these felt. One minute Serena is all hot and bothered and the next she just ups and leaves. There was no flow between scenes or dialogue and it just made no sense at all to me. I wish I could say that at least there were some erotic scenes but I think I counted only a handful. There was a flogging scene of sorts but I was just not interested.
Overall, this was just not an exciting read. Too much description and flowery language. Plus characters that I cared absolutely nothing about.
