Frost Burned (Mercy Thompson, Book 7)

Frost Burned - Patricia Briggs Reading this was like catching up with an old friend. It's been over a year since the last Mercy book and I was a bit nervous about this one. Wasn't sure if the magic was still there. Happily it was.

This further explores Mercy's new position as alpha mate and her bond with Adam. He and the pack have been kidnapped and she is on a hunt to get them back while keeping Jesse safe as well. There were many parts and scenes I loved and its difficult to talk about them without spoiling the book. Suffice to say that Mercy would do anything to rescue Adam and keep him from dying. It was great to spend time with Ben, Kyle and of course Stefan.

Then there is Adam Hauptman. Adam is THE Alpha. I've always loved the witty banter between him and Mercy. We also had the pleasure of two chapters in his voice. I do believe its the first time we got this but I could wrong. His love and protectiveness of his pack is heartfelt. I love that he respectsMercy. It's not just the physical but her stubbornness and strength.

There was a part towards the end that felt out of place and a bit disjointed but overall I enjoyed this. I think the next book will further explore Mercy's connection with ghosts.

This is one of the first UF series I read and Mercy and the pack will hold a special part of my heart. Thank you Ms Briggs!!
