A Local Habitation (October Daye, Book 2)

A Local Habitation - Seanan McGuire *sigh* - I want to like this series. I really do... but I don't. Love the premise. I'm familiar with the Bay Area so it's nice to read a book set here. In this book we take a trip with Toby and her liege's foster Quentin, to the city of Fremont to check-up on his niece. There we meet January and her people who are in charge of technology something or other. Toby discovers that someone is sucking the fae dry and wants to get to the bottom of it.

The problem? I found it really difficult to connect with the story and it's characters. I like Quentin. I like Tybalt - wish he made more of an appearance. Don't connect at all with Toby. I don't find her appealing in the least bit. She doesn't seem to have much power. She tends to get her ass kicked easily and... I don't really understand why she is a knight and why she has such an amazing PI rep.

Not sure if I will continue with this series.
